Internal Landscapes - Art Book

Inspired by the practice based research and encounters with over 25 organisations and 100 individuals, we designed this book. It assembles some of the stories, poems, prints, learning and experiences that this project has yielded from across Lewisham and further afield. The book also contains reflections from locals, volunteers, partners and Council employees on this wider Borough of Culture project and process. It provides a collective narrative reflecting on our relation to, and experiences within, our neighbourhood, and glimpses into places of Sanctuary, inclusive collaborations, and the new and meaningful connections that have been fostered by this project. You can consult a digital copy of the book for free here: Internal Landscapes Art Book

“Internal Landscapes is an excellent publication and everyone was struck by the creative writing and the illustrations and how they responded beautifully to the Lewisham landscape.  The project, its concept, delivery and outcomes was considered to be tremendously inspiring and we are very keen to ensure that the work is known widely as it is exactly the kind of project many heritage organisations are keen to create and deliver. It will act as a great model for future projects  and everyone involved, especially of course Dima, should be congratulated for the tremendous work that went into creating it.” Terry Bracher, Alan Ball Award Judge and Hon. Chair CILIP LSG

“I read your book with great interest, Internal Landscapes is a lovely book, and reading it made me feel proud of the Lewisham I have lived and worked in for much of my life.” Jean, volunteer at Manor House Library

The art book was on display as part of the exhibition at the Horniman Museum and Gardens. 250 copies were offered to all participants, collaborators, libraries and partner institutions and will stay as a legacy in the borough beyond this project.
